Hangout in English!

Do you wish you could practice English in a fun, natural setting?  Why not  “Hangout in English!” with The Boston School?

Where we meet…

On the first Monday and the third Thursday of the month, we meet for an informal dinner or drinks in Zurich. Some recent places we’ve gone to are b.good and The Oliver Twist Pub in the Niederdorf, Restaurant Commihalle for their Lindy Hop dance class night near Central, and Paddy Reilly’s Irish Pub near Paradeplatz.

Who comes…

Each week is a nice surprise – people sign up usually 2-7 days in advance.  I have met people who are Swiss with dual nationalities, others who have spent time abroad learning English and many others from all corners of the world.

We can travel without leaving Zurich by meeting newcomers not yet able to speak German.  They include university students and professionals from Sweden, China, Uruguay, Spain, Germany, Canada, Australia, England and the USA.

This gives a chance for local Swiss to share stories and pass on practical advice.  But mostly?  We just get to know each other.

Now in Aargau…

We had our first “Hangout in English!” event in Aarau in 2016. Melissa Weaver now organizes Hangout in English! sessions at a Mr. Pickwick’s Irish pub in Baden for their Monday pub quiz nights.

To join us…

There are two ways to join us. Firstly, if you are a member of or wish to be a member of the meetup community: www.meetup.com.  You can then request to become a member of either  “Hangout in English!” or “Aargau – Hangout in English” or both!

Express your ideas BETTER in English

Sometimes you know what you want to say in your own language, but struggle to find the right words in English. That is why our blog posts and news are not just about us, our teachers have also had to learn a new language.
