The European Union has established a standardised system of evaluating language levels called The Common European Framework.
This framework divides language learning into 6 specific levels.
Below you will find a short description of each of these levels as well as the Cambridge Exam courses associated with them.
This should assist you in finding the appropriate course level for you.
Has little or no knowledge of the English language
Can use simple phrases and limited vocabulary to communicate.
Can take part in a variety of conversational subjects.
Uses basic structures and vocabulary.
A better control of structures and vocabulary.
Errors are still frequent, but can demonstrate a good level of understanding .
Wide range of structures used with a fair degree of accuracy.
Some typical errors still prevailing. Good overall comprehension and wide vocabulary.
Communicates very well using most structures accurately. Can talk about a wide range of topics using appropriate vocabulary and using some idiomatic language.

An elementary level exam, testing your ability to deal with basic written and spoken communications.
An intermediate level exam, testing your ability to cope with everyday written and spoken communications.
An upper intermediate level exam - ideal if you can deal confidently with a range of written and spoken communications.
An advanced exam - if you can communicate with confidence in English for work or study purposes, this is the exam for you.
A very advanced level exam - perfect if you have achieved a high level of language skills and are able to function effectively in almost any English-speaking context.
Business English
A suite of three exams designed to test English language ability used in the context of business. They are ideal if you are preparing for a career in business.
